Fun-fact note in between TBy now you're probably wondering why many successful Muay Thai fighters have the name of a boxing gym as their surname. It is a tradition to show respect for the supporting gym and at the same time to promote it in public. A fighter's first name can also be a nickname that refers to their skills, attributes or reputation: For example, dam stands for “dark” and is used as a name by dark-skinned fighters, while Petch means “Diamond” and yod means “The Best”.
