Class description
Muay Thai for a full year — twice-daily training at R1 Muay Thai Phuket in Bangtao, for those who aren't visiting the sport but making it home.
This 1-year pass gives you 2 Muay Thai group classes per day at R1 Muay Thai Phuket — the morning class from 8:00–9:30 AM and the afternoon class from 4:30–6:00 PM, each running 90 minutes. Training runs Monday to Saturday, week after week, for the full 12 months, with Sunday as the gym's rest day. It's the gym's most complete membership — up to 3 hours of coached training a day, all year round. The pass is valid for 1 year from your start date.
A year of training is a different kind of commitment — and R1 Muay Thai Phuket is built for exactly this. Founded as the international expansion of Rama1 Muay Thai, one of Melbourne's most respected gyms, R1 was created as much for expats seeking a home gym as for visitors passing through. Within your first month the fundamentals lock in, but the real story of a year is everything after: seasons where your clinch leaps forward, months spent rebuilding your kicks at a higher standard, plateaus broken and personal styles found. Training under the same coaching team twice a day, all year, you stop being a student they teach and become an athlete they develop.
Twelve months in Bangtao means the island's rhythm becomes yours. Surin Beach, around 12 km from the gym, cycles through its seasons with you — crystal-clear turquoise swims under casuarina trees after hard weeks. Bangtao Beach, about 10 km away and one of Phuket's longest white-sand stretches, becomes the quiet evening default that Patong never could be. And Phuket Old Town, roughly 19 km out, keeps its Sino-Portuguese charm fresh across a year of Sundays — there are always more cafés and side streets off Thalang and Dibuk Roads than one visit can cover.

FAQ
- Who actually buys a 1-year pass?
Mostly people who live here — expats, remote workers and long-term residents in the Bangtao area who want a home gym rather than a holiday program. R1 was built with exactly this community in mind, alongside the travellers who pass through on shorter passes.
- What does a year of progress look like compared to shorter passes?
Shorter passes compress progress into one arc; a year gives you several. Fundamentals lock in during the first month, then the real development cycles begin — seasons focused on clinch, periods rebuilding individual weapons at a higher standard, plateaus worked through rather than avoided. It's the difference between a training trip and an athletic year.
- Do I have to train twice a day, every day, all year?
No — the pass covers both daily classes so the full program is always available, but a sustainable year means cycling your volume. Most year-round members mix double days, single days and deload weeks, with coaches adjusting intensity to wherever you are.
- Can I start a 1-year pass as a beginner?
Yes — classes are structured for all levels, and a year of consistent coaching from day one is the most complete path in the sport. Coaches scale everything to your level while the long timeline removes any pressure to rush.
